Provence, France is a region full of charming small villages that are waiting to be explored. While places like Aix-en-Provence and Avignon are certainly worth a visit, there are many smaller villages that are just as beautiful and full of character. Here are a few of our favorites:

Gordes

Perched on a hilltop in the Luberon region, Gordes is a stunning village with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Its narrow streets are lined with stone houses and the village square is home to a bustling market. Don't miss the castle and the stunning views from the top of the hill.

Bonnieux

Another hilltop village in the Luberon, Bonnieux is known for its beautiful architecture and breathtaking views. Wander the winding streets and admire the old stone buildings, or hike up to the nearby cedar forest for even more stunning views.

Lourmarin

This picturesque village is nestled in the heart of the Luberon and is home to a beautiful 15th-century castle. Stroll through the narrow streets and take in the charming houses and beautiful fountains, or sit in a cafe and soak up the relaxed Provençal atmosphere.

Roussillon

Known for its vibrant red cliffs, Roussillon is a beautiful village that is perfect for a day trip. Wander through the ochre-colored streets and take in the colorful buildings, or take a hike through the nearby Sentier des Ocres for a truly unique experience.

Moustiers-Sainte-Marie

Located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, this beautiful village is known for its stunning location at the base of a limestone cliff. The village is full of charming houses and beautiful fountains, and the nearby Gorges du Verdon are perfect for a day of hiking or kayaking.
